HBTL receives Wildlife Friendly certification, one of the 8 enterprises worldwide to receive this prestigious certification

High in the Himalayas Grey Wolves, Himalayan Tahrs, Leopards, Musk Deer, Pangolins, Red Pandas, and Wild Yaks are threatened due to loss of habitat and poaching, but Himalayan Bio Trade is working to actively protect these species.

Himalayan Bio Trade Private Limited (HBTL) and its shareholders, community based forest products enterprises of Nepal, have gained tenure over forest habitat and work to conserve and improve the ecosystem’s unique biodiversity and protect the wildlife. They protect the wildlife and unique biosystems by sustainably harvesting non timber plants, thus involving local communities, who benefit from increased income and conservation of their land.

HBTL and its community enterprises have also received Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for their well managed forests, Cradle to Cradle certification for their progressive production processes, as well as organic certification. HBTL's efforts have been supported by USAID through a public-private alliance and the Global Conservation Program (GCP).
